It took me 3 years to gain my own self-recognition. During that time, I was confused about what I was meant to do, who I was meant to be, how I helped people, and what I was even good at.
But feeling confused didn’t stop me. It meant I wasn’t there yet, I wasn’t an expert…yet.
And during those 3 years, I wasn’t focused on just one thing, first I had to find the thing that interested me. Which took trial and error. I found a lot of things I didn’t want to do. But I also found the things I did want to do.
I continued to learn about the things that continued to interest me. And through the continual learning, tweaking, and learning cycle, I found where I felt most at home. Where it felt like it was fun. Where I was happiest and feeling most motivated.
That is using Human Design in Business.
I learned all areas of Human Design. And yes, I can talk about it. I can help people understand the basics of Human Design, relationships with Human Design, Manifestation with Human Design (this one is actually still a part of my unique process), but none of those were the end goal.
I’m an entrepreneurial spirit. I love – and I mean LOVE – talking about business with people. Setting up their business, recalibrating it when they are having a hard time making sales, all kinds of things.
I love helping people learn how they can better help their own clients.
During the 3 years of trial and error, I had wondered what size of an audience I wanted in the future. Whether it was millions or thousands. And at first, I thought it was millions. But honestly, I want to indirectly help millions. I want to be the person who helps others impact millions.
So I don’t need to be known far and wide. I just want to help the people that impact others.
You can see how through this trial and error process, through this tweaking process, and through my studies, I’ve found (1) how I want to help people, (2) what I want to be known for, and (3) who I want to impact directly and indirectly.
And it all feels good. It feels right. It feels fun.
And not just surface-level fun that every business coach says because it’s a buzzword. Fun, like I’m happy to do it, I’m eager to start, I’m losing myself in the time I spend doing it because time falls away. True fun.
That is how I now see myself. That is my personal recognition.
It took time, but it was worth it.
Recognition for Projectors comes first from within.
What do you want to be recognized for? What do you want people to see from you? What makes you feel like you’re being seen?
Recognition coming from within isn’t knowing everything about yourself.
It’s knowing what you want to do. It’s knowing what you’re great at.
If you don’t have that self-recognition yet, keep learning, keep studying, keep following your bliss. Recognition will come to you through watching yourself learn the information you’re meant to learn + master the systems or processes that interest you.
So when you’re on your way to recognizing yourself, remember that it’s okay to feel confused, lost, and frustrated. You’re still heading towards your recognition. You’re still heading towards being the expert. You’re still going to find the fun at the end of the tunnel.
It’s okay to feel like it’s taking forever. Just don’t give up.
I’m sure you’ve heard the word “Niche” more than enough times already at the beginning of your business so far.
And beyond that, there are differing opinions everywhere too on whether you should or shouldn’t niche down.
But here’s the real scoop about Niches: People think a Niche is a limiting box they need to fit into, but it’s not! It’s actually a way to help yourself get focused and get found by the right people.
And knowing your Human Design type can point you in the right direction.
Before we go any further, your niche could be either the audience you reach, the problem you solve, or both together. It depends on what feels correct for you.
For instance, life coaches can be niched down to a specific audience. The actual problem they solve is more open, while the audience they serve can be specific.
Or vice versa, you could coach anyone who needs help with a specific problem. The problem you solve can be specific while the person receiving the help is more open.
Or even a very specific niche using both sides can be something like teaching postpartum healing yoga to new moms. Again, it depends on what feels correct for you, but overall we’ll talk about which types should be more niched down and which types shouldn’t.
This applies to all types of businesses, like if you want to run a physical product store, a digital goods store, or whatever type of business you desire!
What you do will be enhanced by how you do it. And your type shows you how you best do what you do and how your energy wants to interact with others through you and your business.
Remember that no matter your type or energetic configuration, you’re able to build the business of your dreams and find your own version of success!
Niche by Type
You’re the trailblazer. Putting yourself into a niched audience won’t feel like freedom. While you’re waiting for inspiration, you don’t need to wait to find the right people. They will find you when you’re moving the collective forward! So instead of focusing on making content for your audience, let your niche form around you! Look instead at where you’re innovative. What area feels right for you to be forging ahead? Where do you see things are stagnant? Where do you want to be known for leading the new movement?
You’re likely going to have something that you’re passionate about from the get-go. Or perhaps you’ve always had a dream to pursue. Or maybe you’ve responded to something that continues to bring you enough variety while remaining the thing you love. Either way, niching down is the area in which you can thrive! Following the examples above, figure out whether you want to niche down in the problem you solve, the audience you help, or both. A specific niche can help you narrow in on what you want to talk about, instead of it feeling limited. And having a focused-goal may be just the thing to help you start creating the content you desire to.
You’re meant to move quickly. It’s likely that you get bored around 18-24 months into a career. You tend to move through the challenges quicker and when there’s nothing exciting left inside a position, you’re ready for something else. Try to remain broader in the niche you choose. Give yourself the room to move and flow when your energy is ready. If you decide to niche down, remember that you have the ability to switch around what you do, and continue to make it fun for yourself!
You’re the one who deeply understands systems and deeply sees others. If you continuously move around and don’t master one thing, you may later in life find yourself unfulfilled. You can always switch it up when you truly feel ready, however, give yourself enough time to master what you choose before moving on. You may find that once you master it, you do actually want to continue with it! Again, with the examples above, find the flexibility that works for you whether to choose a specific problem to solve, the audience to help or both. Give yourself enough time for deep periods of rest in between and make it something you do actually enjoy too! Burnout on a niche doesn’t mean that niche is wrong for you, you may just need time to rest and recoup your energy!
Your aura is so open that it’s not meant to fit into one box. You can shift, move, flow, and mold yourself to any situation that needs your attention. Play to this strength. Choose something broad and let yourself be guided where you need to go! Find the people that need your help, find the environments that feel open and exciting to you, and find the niche that feels like home.
Remember, Human Design can go much further into niching down than just using your type.

When I first started my business, I was lost. I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur, but I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do to be an entrepreneur.
Luckily, you really only need a skill, knowledge, or experience in an area that’s further along than someone else in the world. Past that, you can create value around it.
For me, that looked like coaching, guiding, mentoring, and helping people navigate the failures I’ve already encountered throughout my own life. And then I spoke as well about my own battle with not fitting in, depression, and feeling like there was no one else like me. So it was a mix of inspirational content, self-help experience, and knowledge sharing.
But even though I knew what I was sharing (which is a feat of it’s own if you’re a new entrepreneur), HOW I was to share it was completely baffling. And even to this day, I can’t say that I figured it out quickly — because I sit here with almost 3 years of entrepreneurship under my belt and I only figured it out after 2 to 2.5.
Quick? No. Painful? Yes. Worth it? You bet.
So here are 3 helpful tips I learned about how entrepreneurship isn’t just about what you do, but also how. And hopefully, I can help save you the time and energy needed to figure this all out.
1. Even when you know what you do, explaining it can be a different beast.
It’s not enough to know what you do, because if you’re on your way to monetizing it, others have to understand it too. So you have to explain it.
I’m not saying you need the perfect elevator pitch (which doesn’t exist in my book), but you do need a handful of ways to say it that make sense.
For instance, not everyone will need the details, and not everyone needs the broad sentence. The difference is who and when you say them.
When your friends and family ask you what you’re doing, be broader (unless you find they’re really interested). This can sound like “I write online about entrepreneurship,” or “I guide people to creating their online business.”
As you can see, those are two general statements that make sense to the general population.
But when you’re in front of your ideal audience, be more specific. Such as “I use Human Design to help new entrepreneurs build an aligned, sustainable business,” or “I help new entrepreneurs build an online business that doesn’t cause burnout using Human Design.”
Both of those help my target audience understand what I truly do. And even then, I’m curating those for this particular platform.
It doesn’t matter what you say, as long as it’s understood. And you can always tweak this when necessary, so don’t spend too much time thinking about it. Get into conversations with your friends and family and just say what resonates in the moment. Over time, you’ll find the words that better describe it and it’ll become a more clear and concise phrase.
2. Past explaining what you do, what way do you want people to find you
This one caused me the most inner turmoil. I didn’t understand what this meant.
I kept hearing other business coaches and gurus saying to “follow your audience.”
That never worked for me. In fact, it was much more draining, exhausting, and caused me burnout (which is why I create content that challenges these streamlined pieces of advice).
It wasn’t until I started listening to my own energy and following where I felt comfortable and free that I saw success. And that took me years to figure out.
So how do you know when you’ve found the place for you?
Ask yourself these questions:
How do I feel when creating for this platform?
How do I feel after creating for this platform?
Do I genuinely enjoy this platform or am I forcing myself to do it?
What decision is the more loving decision: to stay on this platform or to leave it?
Don’t just consult your mind on this, feel into your body. How does your energy feel when you think about those questions? (If you know your Human Design Authority, consult that).
The point is, if you don’t love the way you do your day-to-day business actions, you won’t create a business you love. And that’s not fluff, that’s fact.
Keeping the end goal in mind, what kind of business do you want to build? And what support do you want to help you in sustaining it?
I’m not saying to stop doing the things you need to right now, I’m simply bringing the different possibilities to awareness. And if it feels good, continue on with it! If not, consider checking other things out.
3. Where do you feel like you truly thrive?
I started on Youtube, then Instagram, then Facebook, then TikTok, then Medium, then Blogging, then Podcast… and I switched back and forth interchangeably through these at different times trying to figure out what fit me. More so where I felt like I was free to be me.
Don’t knock it until you try it out, because resistance is a great signpost for what to look into. But also, don’t force yourself into a box that you don’t even want to be in.
Youtube was nice, still is. I just don’t want to dedicate my time there right now, though I know I probably will add it in the future again.
TikTok wasn’t my cup of tea, but I don’t mind posting every once in a while when I feel called to.
Video isn’t bad for me, but it also requires more energy from me. And as a Self-Projector in Human Design, I need to conserve my energy more than most people.
Facebook and Instagram were time-zaps for me and made me feel more bitter than anything good. I still have them for when people decide to join my community, but that’s really all I use them for anymore — community.
Now we get into my zones: Podcast, Blogging, Medium. I’m a writer at heart, and I resisted it for many, many years. But as soon as I finally allowed myself to truly test it out, it’s rapidly become my favorite thing to do.
Podcasting is another because it’s my own platform to just speak about my ideas and experiences and find new people like me who are interested in what I’m interested in.
I love being able to share my thoughts both with the written word and the spoken word. And as a Self-Projector in Human Design, that’s very aligned for my energy. (Believe me, if I had known about Human Design sooner I would’ve saved myself some huge headaches!)
These are the places I’ve found that I thrive. And I had to test them all out to see what felt good and how I truly enjoyed sharing my knowledge.
And it will be the same for you.
Not everything will work for you, but something will.
I constantly say that everyone could be an entrepreneur. And I 10000% believe that to be true. But I also know that not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur, and not everyone is willing to put in the work to become an entrepreneur.
Either way, if you have this dream and you’re willing to do it, fail, persevere, and keep going, you will find success with it. Anyone who tells you it isn’t possible to build a business you love hasn’t been able to do it for themselves yet. Don’t let their projections sway you.
People only truly believe what they’ve done themselves. So find small ways to win, take comfort in the small successes, and keep going. Be your own best cheerleader, and cultivate your content consumption like your life depends on it. Spend time reading inspiration, not demotivation. Then put your desire into action. Take the steps. Move forward.
And you’ll inevitably get there, no matter what anyone else says or believes.
This is going to be such an unpopular opinion that I almost decided not to write this. However, it’s important for you to know, just in case you’re like me.
Over the last 30 days, I’ve made a schedule for myself.
My goal was to write a blog post every day, even if it turned out to be a shitty post.
My personal daily structure was that I was going to allow myself to freedom to flow through my days, without forcing myself to do anything.
Needless to say, I didn’t write every day. BUT it’s not because of what you might think.
There’s so much collective pain and conditioning around “Resting” that it’s been labelled as “Laziness” when people take a day off, choose to NOT do something, or are sitting down to take a breather from life.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s a line between laziness and resting, but that line isn’t so black and white.
Mainly, speaking in Human Design terms, anyone without a defined motor center needs more rest than others.
And anyone without a defined Ego center doesn’t have access to consistent Willpower and Motivation.
What does that mean?
Just so we’re both on the same page, I have NO motor centers. And my Ego center is NOT defined.
So when I told myself for the umpteenth time that I was “finally going to be consistent”, I was setting myself up for failure.
Consistency ISN’T in my nature. It’s not a natural thing for my energy.
So though I was able to crank out a few posts at the beginning of the month, gaining a 5 day or so streak, I was so happy and proud of myself!
Then day 7 happened…
And day 8…
On day 9 I posted again.
Then day 10 happened…
Day 11 I posted again.
Day 12 I posted again.
Then radio silence for about a week.
And it wasn’t that I couldn’t sit down and write. I had all the time I needed. I had the availability for it. And it’s not like I was sitting around just watching Netflix.
But the thing was, my energy had moved on.
I was focusing on learning instead.
My energy went from exporting to importing. For no reason other than that’s what felt RIGHT. That’s what came easily to me.
Consistency is an illusion
Honestly, only people with defined Ego centers are the ones that have the energy for consistency. It doesn’t take too much for the Ego center’s motor to be turned into “on” mode.
However, every OTHER center, needs the right conditions.
Inconsistency is labelled as “bad” or “lazy”.
“Sometimes you just gotta push through”.
Insert any other “hustle-mindset” phrases here.
But why do you want to push yourself to do something if in the moment you hate doing it right then and you have no energy to do it?
That feeling of no energy and force is going to show through in your work anyways!
So it’s like you force yourself to do it, only to have THOSE things that you did be the ones you’re needing to re-tweak or re-record or re-write at a different time because you weren’t happy with the end result anyways.
Why not wait for the creative wave to come back around and then you just create as much as you want to and SAVE some for the time when, inevitably, you’ll feel uninspired to do it?
Creativity IS a wave.
And choosing to celebrate the down time is JUST as important as celebrating the UP time.
I didn’t stop writing because I had nothing to say
I stopped writing because what I would’ve said wouldn’t have been as good in THAT moment as if I would’ve waited until the right time.
I have more than a handful of things that I’m doing/learning/creating at any given time.
I’m not a Manifesting Generator (someone who can and is meant to be multitasking). But I have a need for variety.
The difference between us is that I have a list of things to choose from in the moment, and I’m NEVER doing more than one at a time.
There are days I sing and learn French.
Then there are days that I don’t do that but I work on my business.
There are days that I go out.
There are days that I stay in and rest.
I learn in my free time. Brainstorm. Rest myself. And prepare myself for the next wave when my energy comes back.
I find that I create better, faster, more efficiently, and more happily doing all of this.
I never get bored. And even if I did, I know my list to choose from or how to find new things to try out.
And most of all, I don’t get BURNOUT anymore.
Be honest, how many times have you felt burnout?
Now how often is that burnout linked to doing things you didn’t want to do in that moment?
If you haven’t discovered this pattern yet, pay attention the next time you feel burned out!
It’ll likely be because of things you don’t want to do (i.e. don’t have the energy for in that moment!), a collection of moments that you’re forcing yourself to do something you really don’t want to do, or even forcing yourself to do anything.
The ONLY times we get burnout from things we actually ENJOY are when we over-indulge ourselves in them. So perhaps that’s a thing for you too.
But, my point is, pay attention to where your burnout comes from and where it starts. You’ll be surprised!
And guess what?
You have 100% control of your life to CHANGE whatever is causing you burnout.
There are ways around it, ways to uplift you during it, ways to work with it, or even just the good-ol “saying no” works wonders as well.
It’s not “Batching”, it’s “Conserving”
I used to HATE the thought of batching content or batching anything.
But honestly, it’s the bees-knees — WHEN IT’S DONE CORRECTLY.
Again, just like we’re saying no to forcing in the moment, DON’T force yourself to batch.
Follow your energy. Batch during your Ups rather than your Downs.
If you have a creative wave with actually putting out content, create a system to help you automatically do that.
If you need to batch your budgeting or your tasks, do that.
Do whatever your energy leads you to do. Cut the things that aren’t necessary. And prioritize YOU.
My own consistency change
I’ve grown to enjoy my inconsistency.
Why are algorithms more important than my own health? They’re not.
I already know that I will create what I’m meant to create. So then why am I pushing?
There’s no deadline. And with an undefined Root center, I hate deadlines. They don’t help me at all, they just give me unnecessary pressure.
I follow what feels right. What flows right.
And if I need a day of full-relaxation, that’s not a bad thing. That’s SO helpful!
When I’m relaxing, I have some of my BEST ideas.
That’s a trend in my own energy that’s reliable. THAT is MY consistency.
As well as I’m a morning person. I like my mornings, I get a lot done.
It doesn’t matter what I’m getting done, I just get a lot done that I need to that day. That’s also MY consistency.
Just because it doesn’t fit the standards of “normal” consistency, doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
And that goes for you, too.
So what’s something you’ve been burning yourself out on that you’re ready to release?
What’s a way you’re inconsistent that actually works WITH your energy?
And what are your ways of being consistent that matter to you?
The first thing I thought when I learned that my energy type affects my business is “well…shit.” Because I had such a negative outlook on being a Projector in business. I had barely any knowledge about what this was going to mean for me overall, I didn’t know how the heck invitations were supposed to work in business, and I didn’t want to niche down because it felt like putting myself in a constrictive box.
Now, today we won’t go into everything I just laid out, but we will go into the whole Niche dilemma. And I’ll get to the rest of those topics in the future.

What’s a Niche?
Niche, (pronounced knee-shh or nee-sh), is an area or topic that you excel in and know at great lengths that’s specific to either the type of people you help or the problem you help solve.
For example, Business is not a niche. It’s a category.
You can niche down three ways:
Work specifically with one area of challenges that you solve – regardless of who encounters the challenges.
Work specifically with a certain group of people – regardless of what challenges you’re helping them solve.
Do both so that you’re working with a specific group of people who have a specific set of challenges you help them solve.
For example, let’s say you’re a Pilates instructor. You could help Expectant Moms (that’s your who) that want to stay fit during pregnancy with Pilates (that’s the solution to the challenge they could be looking to solve).
There’s many different ways to niche down. These are two specific ways, but you could stay broader as well.
To Niche or Not to Niche – That is the Question
MY personal opinion is: YES.
However, hear me out because I don’t mean to go dig yourself a small hole of one topic.
Here’s the baseline question I like to ask:
Does it feel constrictive to you?
If it feels like too small of an area for you to be in, broaden up. If it feels like there’s wayyy too much to cover so you’re not really covering anything, niche down.
Ideally, you’re looking for YOUR sweet spot. And your sweet spot will look different than others. And that’s okay!
The best part is that you don’t have to niche down right away.
Start with what you DO know
If you’re not ready to go niching down because you aren’t sure about it yet, then don’t go too deep. ESPECIALLY if you’re just starting out as an entrepreneur.
Every single person who has started a business has pivoted, even if they don’t readily or up front tell you that they have.
It takes time and testing to figure out what works best for you. Give yourself permission to pivot. Give yourself permission to test out different things. No one else cares if you pivot; BUT they WILL care if they can tell you hate what you do. That kind of energy isn’t fun to be around.
So if you don’t know exactly who you want to help yet, don’t niche yet.
If you don’t know exactly what problem you solve yet, start with a category instead.
As you go and as you create content, you’ll figure it out by feeling whether you like to talk about certain things.
Pivot, Pivot, Pivot!
Anyone else having Friends flashbacks to Ross as they’re carrying the sofa up the stairs? No? Just me?
Live by this: Each time you take a step forward, you’re one step closer to figuring it out.
For me, I pivoted over 30 times in under a year. Why so many? BECAUSE I HADN’T FOUND THE RIGHT ONE YET.
AND as a plus, since I didn’t hold myself back from pivoting, I was able to take as many steps forward as I needed to in order to get where I am today. And I’m so freaking glad that I didn’t take multiple years to do it!
There’s NO shame in pivoting.
The only one stopping you from taking steps towards your future is YOU.
The only one judging your progress is you.
Think of it this way: The ones who say ANYTHING negative to you about your journey are the ones who AREN’T on a journey of their own. Because the ones who are on their own journey don’t have the time or care for what you’re doing since they’re focusing on themselves.
Another gem: Don’t take insult from those you wouldn’t even take advice from.
What it looks like IRL
Let’s say you eventually will want to be that instructor we talked about earlier.
If you don’t know that you want to teach Pilates yet, start with Fitness.
Start creating fitness content on your platform of choice.
When you’re creating this content, you’ll realize “wow, I like creating [this] type of content more” and do more of that.
When you start working with people, see which people you enjoy working with the most.
These are the ways to keep taking steps forward.
You’ll end up going from Fitness to Low Impact Fitness to Mindful Fitness to Yoga to Pilates. Not specifically these or in this order, but you see how it went down in niche across the progression. That’s what you’re doing.
Allowing it to progress naturally.
And that’s actually the last big thing we’ll talk about.
Don’t force it
Too many times I see people force themselves to fit in a box they didn’t even care for in the first place.
The more you allow yourself to natually move forward, the faster you’ll find your niche.
I know it seems counterintuitive, and as a Projector it may be hard to trust and lean back, but that’s the BEST, fastest, and easiest way you’re going to find what’s right for you.
So overall, should you as a Projector niche down?
Yes. But only to your sweet spot.

Confusion usually comes up for us when we are resisting something.
We ALWAYS know what’s best for us and what’s the right next step for us. We’re Co-Creators in our lives. We have the 100% choice on what we do and when. And if you think about it, when you finally decide something, how long does it take for you to implement? Not very long (at least as long as you don’t allow fear or worry to stop you, but that’s a topic for a different time).
Confusion, when it’s about our own path, seems like we need more information before we can make a decision. However, more information actually leads to analysis paralysis.
Because whatever you WANT to do will have information to support it. But there will ALSO be information that is unsupportive.
That’s why we tend to have confirmation bias; where when we’re looking for supportive information of our opinion or desire, we find it and take it as truth, because it was what we WANTED to find. We’ll go deeper into confirmation bias in the future as well.
But there’s a few things that can help you get unstuck or out of the confusion quicker than simply “waiting” for the answer.
Ask yourself questions to journal
We can’t process things completely in our minds — even though our minds like to think we can. But just check in with how many times only processing in your mind has actually led you to the right answer. My guess is that you either weren’t able to finish processing OR you got into overthinking and decided to either do nothing or you acted impulsively.
No shame, no guilt. It just is what it is and it’s the same for everyone.
So to get out of this loop, break out a piece of paper and get writing.
Transferring your thoughts to paper not only help you see it outside of you, but it gives you a new perspective on it as a whole when you can then process the information you PREFER to write down.
The way you write something is slightly different than the way you speak or think about it.
That’s why some people are speakers and some people are writers. Usually you have a preference of one or the other.
And if you’re a speaker and prefer to process out loud, find yourself a trusted friend or advisor to help hear you out, NOT TO INSERT THEIR OPINION, but to simply help you get out what you need to and ask you questions to help you find your truth.
This is actually a very big reason people hire coaches; because coaches (depending on the coach, that is) but for the most part, coaches are there to help guide you to your core truth. That’s at least what I do as a coach, because NO ONE knows what you want to do more than you. There’s just mental blocks or something in the way, and I help remove that block.
Anyways back to the point.
Get your thoughts out of your head. Whether that’s in a journal or with someone else who you can trust to help you get to your core truth.
What questions can I ask myself?
The questions you ask yourself heavily depend on the situation you’re going through, but here’s a few generic ones that usually work for MOST situations.
What am I deciding?
Why is this decision important?
What is my fear for choosing either option? (or all the options, however many there are, what are the fears for each option?)
Which option would I choose if there were no negative consequences and it went as well as it could?
What part of me is telling me that I can’t go this way or that it won’t go well?
Essentially, you’re going to be looking for any catastrophizing, any limiting beliefs, any ego fears for safety from perceived danger, etc.
You could even give these questions to your trusted person to ask you as well.
And make sure you’re being 100% honest with yourself as well! If you aren’t fully honest and open about your answers, you’ll be keeping yourself in confusion and just wasing your time. So be 100% open and honest with yourself!
What if journaling it out doesn’t help?
If journaling it out doesn’t help, there are either of two things that can be at play here.
1. You might not be 100% open and honest in your answers.
When you’re being truly open and honest in your journaling session, you can find the root cause of the confusion. But some people aren’t used to this type of deep dive within themselves yet, and that’s okay. If it’s not working for you, it may be time to get someone to process with you, such as a friend, a close family member, a coach, a therapist, whoever you trust to help you walk through the situation and help you find the blocks and remove them. Remember: without their personal bias or opinion.
2. You may be too close to the situation to see it clearly.
Again, this happens to everyone. There’s things I go to my coach about, and things I process through myself. It just depends on what it is. So if you’ve tried journaling it out and it doesn’t work, don’t blame yourself for not being able to figure it out. It’s normal. And most likely, it just means that you deeply care about the situation. That’s a good thing! But not being able to see it clearly and make a decision is even more important in these instances. So find some support! Call your best friend. Schedule a coffee chat with them. Do something with the person you trust and ask if they can help you process this situation.
I know there’s a handful of people that don’t like seeking out help, but let me lovingly point out that not seeking out help is actually limiting you from making strides forward in your life. Would you rather stay stagnant and unable to make this decision for an indeterminate amount of time? Or put the pride aside and ask for help to figure it out much quicker?
But if you’re still against asking for help, here’s another way that’s really helped me and my clients in the past.
Commit to a “Day of Total Presence“
This is what I called it when I did this for myself the first time and the name just stuck from then on when I recommended it to my clients and friends.
A Day of Total Presence is exactly what it sounds like. Let me explain.
You know how most of the time we’re on autopilot going through our day? Or we get constantly distracted by social media, people, thinking about the past, worrying about the future, all that super fun stuff?
A Day of Total Presence is the exact opposite.
It’s where you commit from morning to night to be present in the moment of what you’re doing.
Where when you drink your coffee in the morning, you are solely focused on drinking that cup of coffee.
When you’re scrolling on social media, you’re focused on each post that you scroll by.
And as you go through this day, you don’t plan ahead. You just FLOW with what you want to do, when you want to do it.
Meaning mindless tv is out the window! If you’re watching tv, you’re focused and actually WATCHING it.
Nothing in this day is autopilot. At least to the best of your ability.
Why a Day of Total Presence?
When we spend too much time in the past or the future, we lose focus and meaning of what NOW is.
Except, everything that is reality is happening NOW.
So bringing yourself back into the present moment reconnects you to WHO. YOU. ARE.
Confusion is based on the fact that we don’t know which way to go. Which to some degree, means we don’t know who we are.
Think about it. If you’re a singer, you sing. If you’re a writer, you write.
If you’re the type of person who drinks coffee, you drink coffee. If you’re the type of person who hangs out with their friends on the weekend, that’s exactly what you do.
Confusion about a decision comes from not knowing which identity we want to be. A person who does the thing, or a person who doesn’t and does the other thing.
And you’ll find that if you feel exhausted, drained, burned out, etc. most of the time, it’s because you actually DON’T want to do the thing you’re forcing yourself to do.
And noticing this brings up all sorts of limiting beliefs, which we won’t go into here because that’s a long list, but recognize that if you’re feeling this way, you may be ready to stop doing it or choose something else.
I’ll gve you an example from my own life.
What does this look like?
I had to take a Day of Total Presence recently because I had set myself a morning and day routine but I just felt SO exhausted and drained of energy, that I didn’t end up doing ANY of it.
Through my own journaling I found that I was dreading the routine, but I couldn’t figure out why.
So I decided to take this day to reconnect with myself.
I did everything that day intentionally, I allowed myself the freedom to do whatever I wanted to do.
I ended up starting to learn a new language, starting to look up singing practices, and got rid of my entire routine that I had mentally chosen before this day.
I noticed what I did that day and when.
I then took THAT day and structured it as my new routine. Because clearly, that’s the way my energy was flowing best and having the most fun.
And low and behold — ALL of my exhaustion went away. I was no longer drained. I had energy and excitement to do the things I wanted to.
And ALL of this came from just one day of total presence.
I know that eventually when my energy shifts again, it’ll be time to take another day of total presence to figure out how to structure it next. It’s an ever-flowing process because you’re an ever-changing human being.
You aren’t the same person you were a year ago. And if you are, it may be time for a change or a refresh.
The bottom line
When you feel confused, you don’t need to tell yourself “I don’t know!” or “I can’t figure it out!”
Because yes, you can. It’s just whether or not you will ALLOW yourself to figure it out.
I’ve just given you three fantastic tools.
Put them into use and see how your life changes and shifts to be what you truly want.

There’s so much contradictory information out there about “what platform to be on to succeed”. And let me be the first to say: it’s all bullshit.
While, yes, there are certain places more people are, such as Instagram and Facebook, that doesn’t mean you HAVE to be there too.
ESPECIALLY if your energy just abhorrs those platforms.
Great news! You don’t HAVE to be on them if you don’t want to be.
So where should a Projector in business be online? Let’s dig into it.
First, step away from the business rules you’ve been taught.
Most likely, you’ve learned business strategy from Generators or Manifesting-Generators. I know I did!
I was SO upset with myself that none of the business strategies were working for me.
I thought there was something inherently wrong with me.
People didn’t like ME when I used those strateiges.
Because it didn’t FIT my energy.
It was like trying to fit myself in a box that was already full. I wasn’t even in the box at all. So I just metaphorically carried around the heavy box hoping one day I might be able to fit inside of it.
Narrator: that didn’t happen.
In fact, it only got worse because I got SO tired of carrying around the box.
It was draining, exhausting, and it really took the fun and enjoyment out of being in the business world.
I was so discouraged!
How did it change for me?
I started listening to my intuition, and you should too.
When I finally started just releasing what wasn’t for me, when I finally just set down the box and walked away from it, I started feeling lighter.
I started feeling like I could move freely again.
I felt like a breath of fresh air filled my lungs.
It did take me a while to recover, with the bitterness I felt and all, but once I did: I felt free from the heaviness that held me back.
I questioned “Okay, if all of that wasn’t working for me, what will?”
I started doing the exact opposite of what I was being told.
And, not everything needed to be the exact opposite, but the point is that I allowed myself to FIND what worked for ME.
And that’s where you may want to start as well.
So, where do you want to be?
Let’s say you scrapped everything you’ve been taught about how “business is supposed to look” right now.
And you were just leading with your energy and where you DESIRE to be.
What platform would you choose to be on?
Do you prefer short quips and dropping words of wisdom quickly? Twitter or platforms similar to Twitter may be for you!
Do you like community and being able to chat with other people, be in the support groups, and just give advice (with detachment of course!)? You may enjoy platforms like Facebook groups, Reddit, or other places you can gather virtually.
Do you like writing longer posts and really getting crafty with your words? Blog sites like WordPress, Medium, and similar sites would be great.
There’s a whole long list of other choices too, but you get the point.
And while we’re on the topic…
When you start scraping everything you’ve learned, you may notice that the niche you chose in the first place just isn’t what you want to do.
Some more great news: You can pivot and change it.
Most people don’t allow themselves the freedom to change their minds.
But why would you rather be stuck in something that you hate JUST to say you “haven’t changed your mind”?
What’s wrong with changing your mind?
Absolutely NOTHING is wrong with changing.
In fact, people who haven’t changed in months (or even years, yikes!), are the exact people who are stuck and stagnant.
Now, I’m not saying that you have to change your niche every few months or years, I’m saying that change bring evolution. No matter what area of life it is in. And you have the 100% choice to change whatever you want, whenever you want.
And ANYONE who tells you differently is just upset because they want to change too, but they don’t have the courage to do so yet. So they’d rather shame you than make the change themselves.
The Bottom Line
YOU decide where to be in life. YOU have the power to change your situation. And only YOU can figure out what’s in alignment with your energy.
Starting with your business platform if you want. But you could start anywhere else in your life if that feels right.
So, where do YOU want to be? And what do you feel YOU need to change to live a better, more aligned, life for yourself?
It still took me a year to really experiment and decondition from all the unaligned advice I had been given, but once I did, the flood gates opened.
I’ve been in business for almost 3 years now and it took me over 2 years to figure out what the heck was going on. Not because I didn’t try, but because I was following all the streamlined information I found and people who didn’t understand me.
1 year in, I found Human Design. I immediately found out I was a Projector and had one of the biggest aha moments of my life.
It still took me a year to really experiment and decondition from all the unaligned advice I had been given, but once I did, the flood gates opened.
Where I used to be stressed out, burned out, bitter, and testing every “business strategy” in the book (with a fall down failure each time); now I’m calm, content, relaxed, rested, and progressing rapidly.
Where I used to get no views, little engagement, and feeling the need to post everywhere to be seen and heard (which still didn’t work); now I focus on a few select things that I love and it feels freeing.
The crazy thing is, just because I found out I was a Projector 1 year in, didn’t mean I started running my business that way. In fact, I started running my business solely as a Projector in December 2021.
And yet, in that short period of time, I’ve gained more traction than in my first 2 full years.
In short, this works. And I’m not the only one it works for.
So if you’re a Projector in Human Design and you want to start a business, here are the 5 key things you really need to know.
1. You are not here to convince others of your worth.
Cold calling, cold DMing, or any other form of outreach really isn’t meant for you. I’m not saying it won’t work, it could. But it’ll be much more resistant-filled, draining, and energy-wasting.
You are meant to see people where they are. You are meant to master and improve systems. You are meant to guide. You are meant to wait for the invitation.
Meaning, you are meant for people to come to you; not the other way around.
In business? That means attraction marketing. And it’s actually a business strategy on the rise (thank goodness).
Attraction marketing is about speaking about your services and products and allowing others to come to you.
And this plays perfectly with the Projector strategy.
All you need to do is show up and be findable. The right people will find you.
2. Bitterness is a signpost to misalignment.
I spent way too much time playing in the bitter-barn while I was trying to make other platforms work. But those didn’t align with my energy.
They felt forced. Constrictive. Limited. Boxed in. Unauthentic. Draining.
It wasn’t until I finally allowed myself to step back and recalibrate that I found the correct areas for me and my precious energy.
It’ll be the same for you.
In business? Don’t force yourself to be somewhere that drains you and that makes you hate it. Find what feels good. And yes, there IS a place that will feel good.
There are so many options out there. Your energy will radiate with positivity when you find the right ones for you.
So when you feel bitter, check-in with yourself. Why do you feel bitter? How often have you felt bitter recently? Is there a pattern to when you find yourself feeling bitter?
Check-in and recalibrate.
3. Speak from your definition and guide in your openness.
This is actually something that I cover in-depth in Niche by Design, but I still want to point it out here.
In your energy, you are most familiar with where you’re definition is. And you learn your deepest wisdom through your openness.
Showing your abilities and skills online starts best when you speak from what you know. It’s already a learning curve to become an entrepreneur, so make it easier for yourself by sticking to what you know and can easily talk about.
This tends to impact your niche the most, but either way, start with what you know.
4. Rest and relax more than you think you should.
As a Projector, you probably were taught to live like a Generator. That “working hard” and “putting in more hours” and “hustling and grinding” is the way to success.
But that’s the polar opposite of what is really true for you.
The more space you let your energy have, the more productive you actually are. I know that sounds counterintuitive because it is.
For example, I used to work myself 6 to 14 hours a day (yes, it varied widely). And what do I have to show for it? Nothing.
Actually, I have negative results instead: burnout, exhaustion, bitterness…
But when I switched the way I worked to working on my energy’s best schedule and for less than 4 hours a day, look at what I have to show for it:
A blog that is consistently uploaded to every week and gets found every day without me having to push it out
A podcast that gets uploaded to twice a week and gets found every day without me pushing it out
An email list that grows every week — almost every single day
The feelings of happiness, contentment, joy, and optimism for working every day doing something I truly enjoy
The space to learn a language and play music and still have time for making delicious meals as well as spending a few hours a week with friends
Naps, Rest, Netflix, a good amount of Sleep…
These last few may seem like small things, but when you were working as hard as I was, you understand how these little things mean so much more.
Not only have I gained followers, subscribers, listeners, and an engaged audience, but I’ve been honored to have a good number of these same people reach out to me and connect with me 1:1.
I know their names, their designs, their likes and interests, and we’ve become virtual friends.
I know people all over the world, from Canada and Australia to India and the Netherlands.
And it fills my heart with fulfillment and joy to see the impact I’ve made and to personally know their amazing achievements.
My business isn’t just a business — it’s a community. And that means more to me than any amount of money ever could.
And all this came from just switching the way I worked! How beautiful is that?
I’m grateful every day that this is my life.
5. Being in alignment means finding the most aligned path for your highest potential.
I won’t sit here and say that I’m always aligned. That’s part of being human and enjoying the experiences here. We get to realign ourselves when we feel we’ve stepped in the wrong direction.
We learn things from our misalignment. And we feel comforted and like we’ve made progress when we come back into alignment.
We need both.
But being in alignment with your energy in your business opens up a whole new world for you, one you may never have expected.
I honestly never thought I would be a writer. I actively resisted it (while I was still in conditioning). Yet here we are, and I feel like this is what my energy wanted from me all along.
It makes me happy. It feels good. It feels right.
This is who I am. And I know it’s leading me somewhere amazing. And it will be the same for you.
And in business? Alignment is success. So why spend any more time trying to fit in where you were born to stand out?
Living in alignment does so much more than we can even imagine. From career and business to personal relationships and health, living as who you are with your true energy brings the potential for miracles.
When you stop resisting the true nature of your energy, you’ll be able to find and have everything you’ve ever dreamed of.
And it’ll be a lot easier to start now than to go down the same path I did.
Wouldn’t it be great if there were a one-time fix-all solution?
Unfortunately, since we live in a place called the 3D world, that just doesn’t exist… yet. (I’m not going to stop anyone from trying, by all means, invent away!)
But even though there isn’t some magic pill that fixes everything, there are clues to what fixes things. And the best ones I’ve found, are the clues that help me run my business successfully, without burning out, as a Projector.
If you’re not yet familiar with Human Design, you may want to grab this practical info packet below and start diving in first. But for those of you already acquainted, let’s look at this.
First, before we even talk about any rituals or practices that work, let’s just get a basis of what my business success looks like and feels like.
I run my business on, mainly, 3 different platforms. These are my own blog website, Youtube, and my Podcast. These are the 3 areas I focus on every day. Past that, I do have Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter. But I hardly use those ones other than when I feel like it or when I cross-post other things (which again, is minimal).
So, 3 platforms.
Every week, it’s my intention to upload on a certain schedule for consistency. This consistency helps me stay on track as well as helps me to understand my real growth. And it definitely doesn’t hurt the algorithm.
In short: I support my energy the way it needs to be supported, I plan ahead to be consistent, and I only work when I feel the inspiration to. These things help me be a better writer, business owner, and person overall.
My 3 Ritual Must-Haves
If you’re not someone who has routines in their HD chart (here’s a podcast episode to know whether you do or not), don’t be too strict with the things I’m about to share. But for me, routines are the structures that give me more freedom. When I have routines, my brain is freed up to think about other things.
Here are the 3 I live and breathe by:
1. Stretch, coffee, sit down to work.
These are the first three things I do every single day (besides hitting the restroom, of course). But this is a routine that I truly enjoy.
When I consistently show up to this routine, I’ve already done some mindfulness through stretching and I prepare myself to get work done.
It’s not forced and I don’t have a to-do list every day. Because for the most part, I’ve minimized my tasks to the ones that actually matter. The ones that get the most progress. That’s efficiency – and it’s a small spike of dopamine to my brain.
I enjoy my work, so I set myself up to enjoy it. And every day without fail, I get done what I need to do.
But since I enjoy my work so much, and since I’m a 4 profile (4’s are prone to burnout), I have to do the opposite as well…
2. I stop myself from working at a certain time and set limits around when I can work again.
I do what I can, but never more than I have to.
I’ve frequently found myself in the past, (before I built this schedule), working long hours without knowing when to stop (open sacral not-self). And I used to barely get any sleep, feel drained, and the quality of my work suffered as well.
But after recognizing that pattern, I set this schedule in place and held myself to it. And now, I can confidently say that I do what I can, but never more than I have to. I’m mindfully aware of when enough is enough, and sometimes I go past it, but I always just bring myself back into alignment.
3. I followed my flow of energy to set this schedule up.
I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I knew how to do this right away – I didn’t. I had to be aware of my own energy, notice when I had spikes in energy and lulls in energy, and I had to watch it for a good amount of time before I could call it a pattern.
But this is why I work so well in my environment now. I noticed that I wanted to work in the morning right after I woke up – so that’s what I do. I noticed that I don’t really want to work any longer than 2 to 3 hours – so that’s what I do. I noticed that I liked having coffee next to me while I work (regardless of if I drink any or not) – so that’s what I do.
This schedule gives me the structure that my energy enjoys, with the freedom to flow where I need to. And it works for me.
So what’s the #1 thing?
After all of that, after figuring out what way I work best, how I can best support my natural energy, the places I need to keep an eye on, and what upload schedule I like best… What’s the #1 thing that brings success to Projectors in business?
Regardless of if you want that consistency to be daily, weekly, or monthly, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re able to show up in some capacity and be findable,consistently.
It may take some time to figure out where you want to be, what niche you want to be in, what aspects of your genius you want to share, or what clients you want to have, but when you do, focus on being consistent with it.
Our brains love patterns. Our brains are always looking for ways to be more efficient, more effective, and find things that are similar. And it’ll be much, much easier for your people to find you if you’re consistent with it.
So find what structure of your business you want to have, what upload schedule feels good to you, and what rituals or routines can support you in keeping to it.
